The Democratic Party's principles closely mirror Representative Morgan's values, prioritizing bolstering working families, improving access to quality education and healthcare, advancing racial justice, safeguarding reproductive rights, fostering economic opportunity, and enhancing public safety. Representative Morgan is dedicated to championing justice, equity, and inclusion for every Washington state resident.

As a former school board director, Representative Morgan is committed to advocating for increased funding for education and youth programs that provide mentorship, job training, and leadership development. She supports after-school programs, access to higher education, vocational training, and expanding mental health and counseling services, giving young people the tools they need to succeed. From 2019 to 2020, Representative Morgan served as Vice Chair of the Housing, Community Development, and Veterans Committee. She worked tirelessly to address housing affordability and ensured our veterans received the support and

resources they deserve. She will continue to advocate for policies that invest in affordable housing development and homeownership and support tenants' rights. These policies include funding programs that provide rental assistance, mental health services, and job training for those experiencing homelessness. She supports increasing the availability of low and middle-income housing through creative incentives for housing partners. Additionally, she will work to expand access to services such as legal assistance for tenants and eviction prevention programs to help people remain in stable housing.​

 

From 2019 to 2020, Representative Morgan was Chair of the Black Members Caucus, where she ensured the voices of the caucus were being heard. As Deputy Majority Floor Leader from 2020 to 2022, she assisted the Majority Floor Leader in facilitating critical legislative processes, ensuring that the voices of the caucus were heard and represented on the floor. Her commitment to diversity and inclusion continued through her service as the Chair of the Member of Color Caucus, where she focused on amplifying the concerns and contributions of legislators of color. During the same period, Representative Morgan recognized the importance of social equity in emerging industries and co-chaired the Social Equity in Cannabis Task Force. This position allowed her to advocate for fair opportunities and representation within the cannabis industry, ensuring the benefits were accessible to all communities, particularly those historically marginalized.​

 

As Vice Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for the 2023-2024 sessions, she was dedicated to ensuring accountability for racial equity within the agricultural and natural resources communities. Her work in this committee underscores her commitment to balancing ecological health with economic growth.​

 

Representative Morgan prioritizes improving police accountability and transparency in the 29th district. Morgan's work includes supporting legislation for independent investigations of police misconduct, establishing clear use-of-force policies that prioritize de-escalation, and requiring law enforcement training on racial bias and community engagement. She also supports community oversight of police actions and establishing civilian review boards to ensure accountability and trust between law enforcement and the community.

 

Representative Morgan remains steadfast in her mission to create inclusive, supportive, and thriving communities across Washington's 29th Legislative District.
